Is your 5th grade student coming to Davidson Middle School in Fall 2024? We would LOVE to have them as part of our Panther Band family! ALL kids are band kids, and we are proud to support our talented students as they pursue multiple interests. We have band students who participate in football, dance, cross-country, volleyball, track, coding, and more! Please join us on our Instrument Fitting Days starting in Spring 2024 so that your student can be fitted for an instrument and find their match.

Crestview HS Band Information
This is for rising 9th graders ONLY! Auditions are not for placement into the Big Red Machine. Everyone who signs up for Band WILL be in Band. The purpose of this audition is to be placed in the appropriate class period. Auditions will take place on May 29th and 30th from 9am-12pm during Rookie Day. The auditions will consist of:
Major Scales (Florida All State pattern)
Wind Ensemble- 12 major scales memorized
Symphonic Band- 12 major scales (memorization not required)
Concert Band- 7 major scales memorized (Concert C, F, Bb, Eb, Ab, Db, G)
Concert Prep Band- 7 major scales memorization not required (Concert C, F, Bb, Eb, Ab, Db, G)
Chromatic Scale
Flutes starting on C, Oboes starting on D, Clarinets starting on E, Saxes starting on F, Bassoons starting on Bb, Brass and Percussion starting on Concert Bb
Prepared Pieces (attached)

Private Lessons
Private lessons allow students to progress quickly due to individualized instruction. Weekly lessons (paired with consistent practice at home) are highly recommended for the best results! Attached below are flyers for local teachers in the area. Please reach out to them directly if you are interested in getting your student started in lessons. Availability and pricing may vary.
Summer Band Camp Opportunities
Participating in summer band camps is an amazing way to keep your student engaged in music-making over the summer. In addition to gaining new experiences, students are exposed to new music and instruction, make new friends, and improve their own musicianship. They return to their home programs in a great position to start the new year, and many end up making the All County and All State Bands!

Solo and Ensemble
Congratulations to our incredible students for their participation in Solo and Ensemble 2024! This is an INCREDIBLE and HIGHLY RECOMMENDED performance opportunity for students in grades 6-8. Students prepare a solo or ensemble piece of music and perform for an expert on their instrument for an official rating and meaningful feedback. This year, the Davidson Band participated in both February and April. Over the course of both days, we had a total of 102 student participants with 81 SUPERIOR ratings! This is an incredible achievement, and we are so proud our students who stepped out of their comfort zone to grow as both musicians and people. We are lucky to work with students who seek out these opportunities and are so willing to push themselves to level up!
Congratulations to our 15 band members who were selected to be part of the 2024 Okaloosa All-County Middle School Band! This is an incredible achievement and our students have grown tremendously simply by going through the audition process. We are proud of our students for challenging themselves and celebrate those who were selected and represent top middle school musicians in our county!

2024 All-State Band
Congratulations to our band members who auditioned and to Maddie and Trip who were selected to be part of the 2024 All-State Middle School Band, both on clarinet! Acceptance into the All State Middle School Concert Band is the greatest achievement a student can receive. Simply auditioning is a huge accomplishment, and no matter the results, the process helps you become a better musician and human! Audition materials for All-State 2025 will be released in May of 2024. Stay tuned! All 7th and 8th grade band students who have completed one year of band are eligible to audition.
